Riki Fujitani
President
Riki Fujitani is the President of BlueWave Technology. Over the past 20 years, his leadership, business, legal and technical expertise have helped to grow the companies Fujitani has founded and directed.
Fujitani also serves as president of Ho’ike Holdings, a technology incubator. Prior to founding Ho’ike Holdings, Fujitani was Vice President of Information Technology for an $80 million property and casualty insurance carrier. His product management, sales, marketing, research and design skills are the result of management positions Fujitani held with IBM, Dimensional Fund Advisors and TRW Electronic Systems Group. Earlier in his career Fujitani, who earned his law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii (Manoa), served as a corporate counsel, working on complex commercial litigation cases involving product liability, construction, and breach of contract claims.
Fujitani earned a Master of Business Administration from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles and, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
Keith Inouye
Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President
Keith Inouye has spent more than 25 years in the fields of information technology and systems development. While focusing primarily on strategic planning, project management, business process improvement and financial analysis, Inouye has also managed application development projects in e-commerce, business intelligence, client/server, midrange and mainframe environments. Prior to joining BlueWave Technology, Inouye directed the implementation and development teams for two software business incubators, establishing the business models and implementation scenarios.
His role as Chief Operating Officer of BlueWave Technology is to oversee all aspects of internal and external operations, from sales and marketing to product development to delivery and implementation and client support.
Prior to becoming the COO of BlueWave Technology, Inouye served as the director of e-business and senior project manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Hawaii, the largest health insurance carrier in the state. There he helped to successfully implement core IT initiatives for the company. Inouye also managed large scale implementations at Ernst & Young, IBM, Universal Studios, Toyota Motor Sales, EDS and Mobil.
Inouye earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and Accounting from the University of Hawaii and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from New York University. He is also a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Leila Tamashiro
Chief Industry Analyst
Leila Tamashiro is an insurance industry veteran who, over the course of more than 30 years, has become renowned for her knowledge and expertise. A member of the Hawaii Claims Managers Association and the Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals, Tamashiro’s claims management background includes the areas of worker’s compensation, risk management and cyber crime.
Her role as Chief Industry Analyst is to provide subject matter expertise in the insurance industry pertinent to the functional development of BlueWave Technology’s software products and services.
Prior to joining BlueWave Technology, Tamashiro served as Manager of the Worker’s Compensation Unit for Acclamation Insurance Management Services. Serving as committee member and Chairman to the Board of Directors for the Hawaii Insurance Industry Task Force and as Vice President and Claims Manager of Island Insurance Companies, Tamashiro has first-hand knowledge of claims issues and processes. She began her career at State Farm Insurance Companies, where she held management positions addressing claims management in the property and casualty and life insurance sectors.
Tamashiro obtained her Independent Adjustor’s License from the State of Hawaii and certification from Arbitration Forums, Inc. She received training from industry organizations including American Educational Institute, Inc., the University of Hawaii’s Small Business Management Program and the Vale National Training Center. Tamashiro holds a certificate in General Insurance from the Insurance Institute of America, a certificate from GAB Business Services in Worker’s Compensation and is active in the Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals and the National Association of Insurance Women.
Renata Bell
Director of Marketing and Business Development
As Director of Marketing and Business Development, Bell is responsible for overall Marketing and Public Relations at BlueWave Technology, executing strategic development and tactical implementation for BlueWave’s marketing initiatives including branding, industry forums, tradeshows, advertising and lead generation.
Prior to joining BlueWave Technology, Bell served as Marketing Manager for Folksamerica Reinsurance Company, a subsidiary of White Mountains Re, a $2.7billion company. During this time, Bell managed marketing, advertising and public relations activities for White Mountains Re, Folksamerica, White Mountains Re Underwriting Services Limited, Folksresolutions and Sirius.
Bell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
Alyssa Hostelley
Product Manager, PipelineClaims
Alyssa Hostelley is a talented leader and facilitator with more than 10 years of experience in project management, product development, operations and finance. As a result of directing many successful customer implementations, Hostelley has developed trusted business relationships with both business partners and clients.
As Product Manager, Hostelley is responsible for overall Product Management at BlueWave Technology including roadmap direction, business analysis, product development, quality assurance, product training and post-implementation support. In the past year, she has also successfully launched one of BlueWave Technology’s largest client implementations in the Mid-West acting as both Project Manager and Product Manager on the initiative.
Prior to joining BlueWave Technology, Hostelley successfully developed a new product whose return on investment analysis was so compelling that it was purchased by key clients of the largest health insurer in Hawaii. Hostelley subsequently managed the delivery of the product, including the technical solution, developed all internal and external communication, directed client training and directed operational support, exceeding customer expectations. She has also managed projects from one month to three years in duration, with teams of up to 50 subordinates.
Hostelley earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Santa Clara University.
Mark Steiner
Director, Professional Services
Mark Steiner is a technology expert with almost 30 years of experience and a background that spans technical programming and project management to supply chain systems, client services workflow and business systems analysis. An executive with an interest in coaching and motivating people, Steiner co-founded The Monday Network, a peer-to-peer self help meeting and online group for technologists in transition to new positions and companies. That group, which began with eight members, grew to 700 under his tutelage.
As Director, Professional Services, he is responsible for managing all BlueWave Technology projects and implementations, specifically for the PipelineClaims product.
Prior to joining BlueWave, Steiner was a project manager with Hawaiian Airlines responsible for redesigning its customer-facing web site, managing in-house and offshore development teams, as well as IT infrastructure and internal marketing. While at Hawaiian Air, Steiner helped co- develop a standardized Project Management methodology. Before his assignment at Hawaiian, Steiner worked as a project management consultant for Avery Dennison, Computer Sciences Corporation and The Rockport Company. He began his career as a project manager for the Stride-Rite Corporation responsible for merging the data and systems that resulted from corporate acquisitions, as well as developing IT technical productivity and automation tools.
Steiner earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.
Daniel Goemans
Principal Architect
Dan Goemans brings more than ten years of software engineering and expertise in development platforms, frameworks and databases to his position as Chief Technical Architect at BlueWave Technology.
His role as Chief Technical Architect is to assure that the products that BlueWave Technology designs and builds are based on the latest technology while leveraging best practices in information technology. Along with the on-shore team, Goemans works with BlueWave Technology’s off-shore development center to assure the software development cycle is adhering to high standards.
Prior to joining the company, Goemans was responsible for directing the design and development of application services for an e-Commerce platform for GTech Corporation. There he also directed both development and system integration teams who were responsible for enterprise-wide web applications.
Goemans’ previous experience developing data repositories and web-based account management systems at Keller Williams Realty, and travel industry optimization technology at Geopassage, provided a blueprint for application development. Goemans began his career with Capital One Financial Corporation where he assessed software development processes and evaluated technology risks unique to multi-site development, applying those to the design and development of a distributed transaction processing system.
Goemans earned a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin after transferring from the Air Force Academy where he studied Computer Science and served as a Glider Instructor Pilot.
